Pokémon Cobalt Version!
I just wanted to get some feedback on starting Project Cobalt again. Should I stick with it? Any suggestions/feedback/ideas?
Here's the link to the original PokéCommunity thread: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=158876
... Geez, this was 5 years ago O.o
EDIT: Thanks guys. For now this thread will be used for brainstorming. If you guys have any ideas/feedback/criticism, you are welcome. :)I have a tendency to blather on about stuff, so here we go.
The main purpose of this hack was to fulfill my love of twisting, dramatising, and exaggerating the plot of video games... or, at least try to. I'll try my best to define not only a solid storyline and gameplay, but to incorporate mythological/historical allusions, build the player's relationships with other characters, bury in some imagery, as well as include abstract questions and thoughts (ya know...on our existence and stuff). If you've played any of the EarthBound/Mother games, I would consider those games a huge influence--thought-provoking; but on the surface, it remains a Pokémon game true to the traditional formula.
So far, here's a breakdown of some of my ideas plot-wise:
- Cobalt takes place in a region called Sinto. The player is a young boy named Lucas, who has lived in Twinleaf Town in Sinnoh since he was born, and dreams of becoming an accomplished Pokémon Trainer. But when he wakes up one morning, he's not at home...
- Lucas wakes from a great dream, albeit a vague one. He remembers a vivid scarlet silk cloth dancing in the sky, which was filled with the light of many a full moon, and a sweet ballad sung by voices all around him. Before the song could finish, the dream ended abruptly.
- Feeling nauseous, Lucas goes outside for some fresh air--but that only makes it worse. A strange smell looms over his nostrils, a smell he can only recognize coming from big, industrial cities. The sky is dark, the grass is thinner, and the trees are frail.
- Your childhood friend greets you at your door, and seems completely oblivious to the drastic environment. He heard something about "wormholes" and rare Pokémon at Lake Falsity, just west of Route 201. He tells you to meet him at the Lakefront, and bolts off.
Aaaaand that's all I have for you guys right now. When I'm not lazy I'll continue where I left off.

Is there any beta patch? Pretty cool concept, including Sinnoh pokes can add some spice. You should update it coz it's too old now, haha!

Any progress on this? I want to help Celadon Mansion grow as much as possible. People are often resistant to change by default, but when the ball really gets rollin' it'll only take time. And I think a great, Celadon Mansion-exclusive hack would be a great way to draw attention!

Re: Pokémon Cobalt Version!
I saw that Mr.Magius added a page for it on the Wiki, although its still a very minor placeholder page. It also reminds me that I need to tweak the Hack infobox template on the wiki to prune out any fields a user doesn't include information for.
I'm curious too though if there is any new progress on it, and I agree that Celadon Mansion exclusive hacks would be a nice draw for people.

Re: Pokémon Cobalt Version!
Haven't worked on Cobalt much in the past couple of months due to exams, but now that they're over, I can actually get cracking and hacking! I'm still in the stages of developing the main plot, but I can probably choke out some screenshots of the player on the maps. Sadly no actual events, as I'm pathetic at learning how to script.
And on the note of CM-exclusive hacks, I'd also be interested in having a community hack once the members start kicking off.
